Mermaid Unicorn Progress
A friend is moving to Seattle and loves a little unicorn/mermaid sign we walk past in Cape May. I decided to paint her something similar as a going away present. It needs many more layers but this is the end of day two of working on the painting.

Mermaid Unicorn Progress
A friend is moving to Seattle and loves a little unicorn/mermaid sign we walk past in Cape May. I decided to paint her something similar as a going away present. I did this sketch on tracing paper over the canvas out of fear of ruining the canvas, I didn't realize til after I didn't have transfer paper! Oops. I ended up cutting it out and tracing it onto the canvas.

I began working on this face after being inspired by a number of different Life Book 2015 instructors. I am stalled on this painting because I couldn't figure out what to do with her hair and have painted over it three times already. In doing so I've also noticed that her facial proportions are a little off. I still really like it and feel like I've improved on my facial shading a lot while working on this piece!

I am so excited that after 30 years I can FINALLY draw/paint a nose!!! It took me so long. I know that technically the lighting in the face isn't exactly right here, but I like the way it looks anyway so am keeping it this way! This ways before this girl got her permanent eyebrows. They were repainted many many times before I felt like they were right.

Watercolor Work in Progress
I've been working on this water color illustration for two years. It's based off a photo I took ~three years ago and I have only painted it while at a friend's in Virginia for some reason. I have gotten so used to working on it there that I save it for when I go visit him.

Watercolor Work in Progress
A little watercolor + dreamcatcher illustration. This is actually a sketch and practice run for a larger piece I plan to work on.

I started this painting during my Life Book 2015 gold leaf lesson. I got so angry at the gold leaf process (and my inability to do it well) that I (foolishly) quit making art for four months. This is hanging on my wall across from my bed, I look at it every morning and am hoping one day I look at it and a vision comes to me so I can finish it.

This painting is exactly the same as the one above. It also lives across from my bed and is waiting for some inspiration to spark.
Random bits o' art I am working on currently.
*April 2016: This page looks like it hasn't been updated in a while, and it hasn't, but that's because all of these pieces are still in their current states. Art has unfortunately slowed down lately, but I'm hoping to do a lot more in the coming months.*
